This project aims to promote rural employment and self-reliance by utilizing cow dung as a valuable natural resource. It focuses on manufacturing eco-friendly and chemical-free products while supporting women empowerment and small entrepreneurs. Additionally, the project contributes to reducing environmental pollution by promoting sustainable alternatives.
The unit will manufacture a diverse range of products including cow dung paint, which serves as an eco-friendly wall coating; cow dung phenyl, a natural disinfectant; cow dung diyas used for religious and decorative purposes; cow dung incense sticks (agarbatti); cow dung logs as an alternative to wood for cremation; and organic fertilizer or vermicompost. These products have strong market potential due to the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions, increased awareness following national cleanliness and organic movements, high seasonal demand during festivals such as Diwali and Puja, and government support for cow-based economic initiatives.
The Target Customers for these products include urban and rural households, temples and religious institutions, organic farmers, eco-conscious consumers, as well as government bodies and NGOs. The manufacturing process involves simple yet effective steps. For cow dung paint, fresh dung is collected, filtered, purified, mixed with natural binders, ground, homogenized, and packaged. For phenyl, liquid extraction is followed by herbal mixing, filtration, and bottling. Diyas are made through manual moulding, sun drying, finishing, and packaging.
Raw Materials required include fresh cow dung, natural binders such as lime and clay, essential oils for phenyl and agarbatti, and packaging materials.
