Overview
The QGI Bar Coater is a precision laboratory coating machine designed for the traditional coating method using a wire wound (Mayer) rod. It ensures accurate and uniform application of coating materials under controlled laboratory conditions, making it ideal for coating trials, product development, and quality evaluation. The system offers adjustable coating speed between 2 to 15 mm/min, enabling consistent and repeatable coating thickness. The wire wound bar consists of a steel core wrapped with precision wire, where the wire diameter determines the final coating layer thickness.
The selection of the appropriate rod depends on:
Viscosity of the coating material
Desired coat weight or film thickness
Required coating speed
The machine is suitable for applying a wide range of surface coating materials including paints, varnishes, adhesives, liquid printing inks, starch, and specialty coatings.
The motorized unit is mounted with an offset blanket coating bed of standard coating area 27 cm × 15 cm and is supplied with seven different coating rods to achieve variable coating thickness.
